Our classes are designed for children from six to eighteen months and are taught in a friendly, relaxed environment. We'd love to see you there.
Helping Your Baby Communicate Before They Can Talk
Every baby is unique and develops at their own pace, but did you know babies can sign back as early as six months? Learning Signalong For Babies before speech develops can help you better understand your baby’s needs and wants. Babies can often sign before they can speak due to hand-eye coordination and motor skills developing earlier than the ability to speak.
By giving your baby, the tools to express their wants and needs before they can speak, you reduce frustration and build a stronger emotional bond. If you later discover your child has an identified speech, language, or communication need, you’ve already laid the foundation for an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) system, giving them a head start.
Learning baby signing also supports cognitive development and strengthens the bond between you and your child as you’ll develop a deeper understanding of their emotions.
When learning Signalong for Babies, our experienced trainers will guide you through the basics, giving you the confidence to incorporate signing into everyday life with your baby.

Learning Signs Before Speech
Motor Skill Development
Babies typically develop the motor skills needed for making hand signs before the skills needed for speech.
Language Understanding
Babies understand language before they can speak. Signing allows them to express their needs and wants before they can form words.
Mimicking and Observing
Babies learn by observing and mimicking what happens during interactions. They can pick up signs through repetition, especially when the signs are used regularly alongside everyday actions and objects.
Encouraging Speech
Using a sign-supported system doesn't delay speech, it can support and encourage it. By linking signs to spoken words, babies are exposed to multiple forms of communication, which helps build their vocabulary and confidence in expressing themselves.
